The One Year Book of Devotions for Kids

Not only do I think it is important spiritually that my kids also take part in their own devotions each morning, but I also believe it is a great stress reliever. Starting the day off with a simple life lesson and then prayer can do wonders for preparing my kids for the day to come.

One of the devotional books I used with my girls when they were younger was called The One Year Book of Devotions for Kids. It is part of a best-selling series. It includes 365 days of character building principles. Who doesn’t want their kids to have a reputable character?

Each page lists the date the devotion is to be completed. It also has a catchy title with the passage of scripture the devotion is based on underneath. Then comes the devotion itself, which is written so that children can easily understand it. At the end of each page, you’ll find three things. 1. The “How About You” section. This section asks questions that will personalize the devotion for your child. 2. The “Memorize” section. This section contains a Bible verse, or part of a Bible verse for the children to store in their memory. 3. The “Key” section. This section is a few simple words to remind the children who to act.

I highly recommend this children’s book to all parents. I find it is best used between 2nd and 4th grade, although you can certainly read it to younger children. Of course, if you have more than one child, you can have the kids take turns reading it, or have one child read it one day and the other child read it the next day.
