Who doesn’t love a good ghost story? I know I do and with the rainy and stormy weather coming our way with the change of seasons, it’s time to break them out. In The Pony Pals “The Pony and the Haunted Barn” Jeanne Betancourt does just that. The Pony Pals have their secret riding trail but there is also another trail that leads to Morristown. Morristown is an old ghost town that has been abandoned for a very long time. The girls aren’t afraid of ghosts or believe all the stories they hear about the town and actually enjoy riding there when they want a long trail ride.
That is until they discover another path along the way not far from the middle of Morristown. The girls have never noticed the path before and decide that they want to go explore it. The path ends up getting so narrow, they have to ride single file for a good part of it. Lightning doesn’t like the trail at all and snickers. The whole time they are on the trail he tries to refuse to move forward but the girls keep reassuring him to get him to keep moving forward. At the end of the trail, the girls find a very old barn that they have never seen before. They tie their horses up to the hitching post outside and head on in to take a look around.
It doesn’t take long before the girls start noticing things happening around them. Strange things happen that they can’t explain. They find and old trunk in the barn with the name “WARNER” printed on it and wonders if that’s the name of the person who used to own the place. Above the door they see a horseshoe and it is super hot to the touch when they investigate it. When they look outside through the windows of the barn they see a storm coming in. The clouds are turning dark and look like they are going to pour down rain. They decide it’s time to pack up and head out.
As soon as the girls leave the barn, they realize that there aren’t any storm clouds in sight. How could the weather clear up that fast? There must be a logical explanation to all of this. There is no such thing as ghosts…are there? The Pony Pals are desperate to figure out this mystery…
