Babies take in all the information around them. Baby board books are great for increasing your baby’s knowledge, while providing you with a way to spend quality time with your baby. Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes is illustrated by Annie Kubler and published by Childs Play.
Parents can sing the nursery rhyme Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes while reading the book to their babies. Music is even provided in the back should parents want to play the music on the piano.
While parents are singing the nursery rhyme to their babies, they can stop at each of the 12 pages and point out the body parts. Parents can then point to the same body part on the baby so that over time the baby will recognize the name of the body part. Although the title Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes only states four body parts, the book actually teaches your baby eight different body parts.
In addition to teaching babies where their body parts are located, the book also illustrates what the baby can do with each body part. For example, the baby can sniff a flower with her nose or listen to instruments with her ears.
I highly recommend this short book for parents of children under the age of two for several reasons. The book is educational in nature, incorporates music, and can even be used to get baby up and moving by having the baby touch each of her body parts along with the song. Since this book belongs to a series, parents may even want to consider purchasing a few of the other books in the series as well.
