In book number two of The Jewel Fairies by Daisy Meadows, Kirsty and Rachel meet Emily the Emerald Fairy. The girls are at one of the biggest toy stores they have ever seen. Wall to wall with every toy they could possibly imagine, they wonder if they are going to meet any new fairies today or even find a missing jewel that Jack Frost has hidden in their world. The girls love helping the fairies from Fairyland and love that they have the coolest secret ever between them. They even get a laugh out of a fairy doll that they see in the toy store because to them, it looks nothing like a real fairy.
Perusing through the aisles, they run into a couple looking at an RC car. The man is having so much fun playing with it. Running it up and down the aisles and making it take corners like a stunt driver the girls giggle. The couple discusses just how much they know that their son will love this toy. Behind the couple is a giant mirror but the reflection in it that the girls see isn’t a grown man playing with the car, it’s a little boy. Next, a little girl drops and spills a bottle of bubbles. Her mother tells her not to worry about it and she’ll buy her another. In the puddle of bubbles the girls see a reflection of a little girl playing with bubbles in the grass. This could only mean one thing; there is a jewel nearby.
Sure enough, Emily the Emerald Fairy makes her presence known to the girls and introduces herself. Emily’s magic jewel controls seeing magic. The girls are worried that they may not be able to find the jewel because the toy store is so big, it could be anywhere hiding. Even worse, a goblin would have no problem hiding in there either. Kirstin and Rachel get started looking for the jewel right away.
Searching high and low, anything that has any type of green glow is quickly inspected. Dolls, TVs and all sorts of toys are searched until they find a stuffed animal cat. One of its eyes is glowing bright green but as they grab the cat, a goblin swoops down in a remote control airplane and snatches it from the girls. They have to catch the goblin and get that jewel back before it’s too late.
