After Kirstin and Rachel help Emily the Emerald Fairy, they are off on their next adventure. In book number four of The Jewel Fairies by Daisy Meadows, the two girls head out to go shopping in a costume store to find the perfect Halloween costume for an upcoming party. The store has everything you could imagine to dress up as. As always, the girls are keeping their eyes out for anything that could mean that they are on the hunt for another missing jewel. It doesn’t take long before they realize just how close they are to Chloe the Topaz Fairy and her missing jewel.
The window display catches the girl’s eyes. Something just isn’t right about it. At first they just dismiss it but take another look when they hear a young boy in the store swear to his mom that he saw the display figures move. That can only mean one thing if they actually did move. Now the girls know that they are going to be doing more than just trying on costumes this afternoon. Kirsty keeps the sales lady busy helping her try on different costumes while Rachel takes a closer look around. Soon she finds Chloe who is in desperate search for her jewel that controls changing magic.
Now the girls know that the goblin and witch displays are more than just displays. Jack Frost’s goblins are on guard here too and they need to be careful. Searching the store and all the costumes and jewelry, Kirsty spots the jewel. In the center of a beautiful crown, made for a queen costume is Chloe’s jewel. She quickly changes her mind about the costume she’s trying on and asks the sales lady to get it for her. While the sales lady’s back is turned, the goblin disguised in a witch’s costume turns into a suit of armor. That has to be the jewel in the crown!
Next thing they know, all sorts of things are changing and transforming all throughout the store. While Kirsty tries to keep the sales lady busy and distracted, Rachel and Chloe try to get their hands on the jewel before the goblins take it. They have to get the jewel back so Chloe can turn everything back to the way it was and then send the jewel home to Fairyland before all the magic runs out. The magic has been fading more and more each day since Jack Frost stole the seven jewels.
